Kids as Art

I once read an article in a parenting magazine about how having lots of photos around of your children boosts their self esteem and self-worth. If the number of photos taken of a child is directly related to their future success, my kids will probably be future CEO's or Nobel Prize winners. I follow them around with a camera constantly, and they literally think I am the paparazzi. LOL!

If displaying portraits has a positive impact on a child's self esteem, then imagine what making their photo the focal point of a room can do.

My Dad's birthday was July 4th, and I created this canvas as a gift for him. When it arrived, I was speechless. My good friend and mentor Karen Rodgers once described a final photo piece so breathtaking that it actually makes the viewer "suck in air" (ie: gasp). I guess that was my reaction to this canvas when I received it. I hung it on my wall so I could photograph the kids with it, and then honestly - I wanted to keep it for myself. (Don't worry... I gave it up and Dad got his birthday present!)

I have large photos of my kids in other places in my house, but now I am brainstorming on what kind of image I want to create to be the focal point of my living room.

You have all brought some gorgeous kids into my studio, and I would encourage you to think about creating an art piece with their images. So many of us invest in art for our homes, and aren't our kids are truly the most precious art of all?

This is SO beautiful!! I've been looking at ordering a fine art canvas of my kids for my house but haven't decided on an exact image to use yet! This is definately a piece of artwork I'd want hanging in my living room!

My husband is a fireman and I've always want to get a picture of him in action. Transferring the image onto canvas would be a great way to display the image. Now, if I could just be in the right place at the right time...
